Kepler 22-B

On December 5, 2011, the scientific community announced that a possible Earthlike world (Kepler-22b) had been discovered orbiting in the star's habitable zone by NASA's Kepler spacecraft.

Kepler-22b is the first confirmed extrasolar planet found by NASA's Kepler Space Telescope to orbit within the habitable zone of a Sun-like star.

Kepler-22b, a possible super-Earth, is 600 light years away from Earth.

Kepler-22b's radius is roughly 2.4 times the radius of Earth.

The only parameters of the planet's orbit that are currently available are its period which is about 290 days.

The average distance from Kepler-22b to its host star Kepler-22 is about 15% less than the distance from Earth to the Sun but the luminosity (light output) of Kepler-22 is about 25% less than that of the Sun.

Scientists can estimate the possible surface conditions as follows:
  • In the absence of an atmosphere, the equilibrium temperature would be approximately -11°C.
  • If the atmosphere provides a greenhouse effect similar in magnitude to the one on Earth, the planet would have an average surface temperature of 22 °C (72°F).
  • If the atmosphere has a greenhouse effect similar in magnitude to the one on Venus, the planet would have an average surface temperature of 460 °C (860°F).

Using NASA's Kepler space telescope, astronomers this year have announced they'd spotted 2,326 new worlds and counting. Ten of those planets are close in size to our own and orbit their suns in the "habitable zone," where temperatures could be balmy enough to support liquid water — and potentially life.

Kepler 22-B is our best shot! :D

IN HONOR OF OSKAR SCHINDLER

This is the  true story of Oskar Schindler.

Oskar Schindler was a German, who came to Poland to start his bussiness and hired Jews to work at his factory. It was the time of Holocaust and the Nazi's ordered this people, man women and children to be sent to the Auschwitz, refusing to let them be killed, Oskar Schindler spent his millions of dollars of fortune in doing all he can, bribing, buying diamonds for Nazi soldiers and setting up another factory in his home town so that this Jews will be transported there instead and be saved.

He single handedly saved 1200 Jews by listing them down in a list called the Schindler's list and this Jews were called Schindler's Jews.

Oscar Schindler rose to the highest level of humanity, walked through the bloody mud of the Holocaustwithout soiling his soul, his compassion, his respect for human life -  and gave his Jews a second chance at life. He miraculously shown the true meaning of humanity by spending every single penny of his millions of riches to save the life's of this Jews of whom he werent related, neither were them people of his faith.. The Jews wrote him a letter at the end of the war, when he was supposed to flee as he was a former associate of the Nazi party.
See Bottom of Page.

Beyond faith, beyond race, beyond nationality, beyond reasoning, beyond everything, he is the epitome of humanity.

Oscar Schindler spent millions to protect and save his Jews, everything he possessed. He died penniless in a hospital where even his bill was paid by the social service. But he earned the everlasting gratitude of the Schindler-Jews.

Schindler wanted to be buried in Jerusalem, as he said, "My children are here". After a Requiem Mass, Schindler was buried at the Catholic Franciscans' cemetery on Mount Zion, the only member of the Nazi Party to be honoured in this way. A sign at the entrance to the cemetery directs visitors "To Oskar Schindler's Grave".

Schindler's grave is located on the mountainside below Zion Gate and the Old City walls. Stones placed on top of the grave are a sign of gratitude from Jewish visitors, according to Jewish tradition, although Schindler himself was not Jewish. On his grave, the Hebrew inscription reads: "Righteous among the Nations", an honorific used by the State of Israel to describe non-Jews who risked their lives during the Holocaust to save Jews from extermination by the Nazis. The German inscription reads: "The Unforgettable Lifesaver of 1200 Persecuted Jews".

IN HONOR OF OSKAR SCHINDLER- 28/4/08-9/10/1974

Businessman,
Righteous Man,
Protecter of the Jew,
Epitome of Humanity

A letter written by Oskar Schindler’s former workers, signed: Isaak Stern, former employee Pal. Office in Krakow, Dr. Hilfstein, Chaim Salpeter, Former President of the Zionist Executive in Krakow for Galicia and Silesia.
"Brothers!

We, the undersigned Jews from Krakow, inmates of Plaszow concentration camp, have, since 1942, workedin Director Schindler’s business. Since Schindler took over management of the business, it was his exclusive goal to protect us from resettlement, which would have meant our ultimate liquidation. During the entire period in which we worked for Director Schindler he did everything possible to save the lives of the greatest possible number of Jews, in spite of the tremendous difficulties; especially during a time when receiving Jewish workers caused great difficulties with the authorities.  Director Schindler took care of our sustenance, and as a result, during the   whole period of our employment by him there was not a single case of unnatural death. All in all he employed more than 1,000 Jews in Krakow. As the Russian frontline approached and it became necessary to transfer us to a different concentration camp, Director Schindler relocated his business to Bruennlitz near Zwittau.

There were huge difficulties connected with the implementation of Director Schindler’s business, and he took great pains to introduce this plan. The fact that he attained permission to create a camp, in which not only women and men, but also families could stay together, is unique within the territory of the Reich. Special mention must be given to the fact that our resettlement to Bruennlitz was carried out by way of a list of names, put together in Krakow and approved by the Central Administration of all concentration camps in Oranienburg (a unique case). After the men had been interned in Gross-Rosen concentration camp for no more than a couple of days and the women for 3 weeks in Auschwitz concentration camp, we may claim with assertiveness that with our arrival in Bruennlitz we owe our lives solely to the efforts of Director Schindler and his humane treatment of his workers. Director Schindler took care of the improvement of our living standards by providing us with extra food and clothing. No money was spared and his one and only goal was the humanistic ideal of saving our lives from inevitable death.

It is only thanks to the ceaseless efforts and interventions of Director Schindler with the authorities in question, that we stayed in Bruennlitz, in spite of the existing danger, as, with the approaching frontline we would all have been moved away by the leaders of the camp, which would have meant our ultimate end. This we declare today, on this day of the declaration of the end of the war, as we await our official liberation and the opportunity to return to our destroyed families and homes. Here we are, a gathering of 1100 people, 800 men and 300 women.

All Jewish workers, that were inmates in the Gross-Rosen and Auschwitz concentration camps respectively declare wholeheartedly their gratitude towards Director Schindler, and we herewith state that it is exclusively due to his efforts, that we were permitted to witness this moment, the end of the war.

Concerning Director Schindler's treatment of the Jews, one event that took place during our internment in Bruennlitz in January of this year which deserves special mention was coincidentally a transport of Jewish inmates, that had been evacuated from the Auschwitz concentration camp, Goleschow outpost, and ended up near us. This transport consisted exclusively of more than 100 sick people from a hospital which had been cleared during the liquidation of the camp. These people reached us frozen and almost unable to carry on living after having wandered for weeks. No other camp was willing to accept this transport and it was Director Schindler alone who personally took care of these people, while giving them shelter on his factory premises; even though there was not the slightest chance of them ever being employed. He gave considerable sums out of his own private funds, to enable their recovery as quick as possible. He organized medical aid and established a special hospital room for those people who were bedridden. It was only because of his personal care that it was possible to save 80 of these people from their inevitable death and to restore them to life.

We sincerely plead with you to help Director Schindler in any way possible, and especially to enable him to establish a new life, because of all he did for us both in Krakow and in Bruennlitz he sacrificed his entire fortune.

Bruennlitz, May 8, 1945."

You da man!

While the world celebrated Christmas as the birthday of Jesus Christ, it was also the birthday of another important person in the history of mankind, and for many Engineering students, someone more important to us than Christ himself, Sir Isaac Newton.

Though we curse you very often for making a big deal out of an apple falling on your head, undeniably there is a feel of grattitude that we owe you that you figured things out. Seriously dude, if you weren't there, I doubt we would have anyone else discovering gravity. The truth is, not many physicst hang around under the apple tree anymore you know, its not cool no more. But seriously Isaac, thanks man....not only for you apple falling on head must find out curiosity findings but also for that Newton-Rhapson Numerical method you figured out, that shit was real messed up...I had to crack my head studying that in my Numec class back in uni....and also for deriving the formulas for calculating the slopes and area functions in Calculus....

Though I just realized how much of a bitch you've been by your findings and how they've given me real headaches, still do admire your brains man....Happy 369th birthday Sir Isaac!

Free your soul from Ignorance and Hate :-)

Merry Christmas!

Dashing through the snow

In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to Everyone!

The real life invisible man

Meet Liu Bolin from China...not the lady on the left....
the man on the right.

Can you see him?

That is Liu Bolin, a 35year old self made artiste who is world renowned for painting himself to blend with the background and needless to say, he does an awesome job of it.Many people would miss him at first glance, with only those that stare for a moment would be able to spot the so-called real life invisible man at work.

The Chinese man claims that he does it as a protest to the Chinese Goverment for shutting down his studio back in 2005, and he has received very little acknowledgements for his stunning camouflage arts in China.

However, I would personally want Liu Bolin to know that I have very high respect for his work, which is not only one of a kind but also done to such high level of art's perfection that it is virtually impossible to replicate his work.

Impossibruu work bro,impossibruu..

Here are some of his other impressive camouflages, shots taken at various locations.

Flowers of Manchester

Just finished watching the movie-United, which is based on the story of the Manchester United team that were involved in the Munich Air Crash that killed 23 players and journalist on board.

Without a doubt, one of the most emotional movies that I have watched, largely due to the undying love for United but also because it's a true story.

Picture taken just before the team got on board
The whole movie is centered around the Busby Babes and the plane crash which saw the passing away of 23 people including 8 first team players.British actor David Tenant is the main actor in this movie, taking the role of the then United assistant manager,Jimmy Murphy. Also very much in the plot of the movie is a very young Sir Bobby Charlton potrayed as the main United player just having debuted before the crash occurred.

I would love to give a quick tribute to the players that lost their life's on that runway on the afternoon of 06th February 1958.

Here are the list of players:
Geoff Bent
Roger Byrne
Eddie Colman
Mark Jones
David Pegg
Tommy Taylor
Liam "Billy" Whelan
Duncan Edwards

Amongst the list of players that lost their lives on that day, there was one particular player many consider as the greatest player the world have never known about. The undeniably incomparable Duncan Edwards, the greatest England midfielder that England never saw more than 18 times. While many would argue that watching the movie and being a staunch United supporter has gotten into me saying this, but go and take a look at the records yourself. The records show that Big Duncan was the youngest player to play in the English League then aged just 16 years and 185days, and was also the youngest player to have played for England at that time. He survived the air crash but sadly passed away in the hospital 15days later out of kidney failure.

"When I used to hear Muhammed Ali proclaim to the world he was the greatest I used to smile. You see, the greatest of them all was an English footballer named Duncan Edwards."
Jimmy Murphy

I played with Moore, Best and Law, and against Pele... but Duncan Edwards was the greatest
Sir Bobby Charlton

"You can keep all your Bests, Peles and Maradonas, Duncan Edwards was the greatest of them all."
Tommy Docherty

"I wasn't fit to tie his shoe laces."
Sir Bobby Charlton

"He was the greatest player I ever seen."
Terry Venables

"We definitely did lose one of the all-time greats."
 Wilf McGuinness

Read this report from the Independent on the 06th of February 2008 calling Duncan Edwards the greatest footballer that ever lived.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/duncan-edwards-the-greatest-footballer-who-ever-lived-778480.html

The movie also highlighted the courage of the Jimmy Murphy in building another squad in the absence of Sir Matt Busby and the determination in keeping the United flag flying high despite not having any footballers to play the very next game after the crash. A quick trials were conducted at Old Trafford and many man came out to try their luck to join United, out of this make shift team, United won their next game to Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 and reach the F.A Cup final that year, loosing 2-0.

Nevertheless, Sir Matt Busby built a formidable United squad that went on to win 2 more league tittles, one F.A Cup and of course, went on to beat the great Benfica side of Eusebio to win the European Cup in 1968, just 10 years later to become the first English team to become European Champions.

Manchester United went on to win to  their second European Cup in 1999 and on the 50th year anniversary of the event, won their third European Cup.

The victory was dedicated to the Flowers of Manchester

But I like your style

This is how beautiful the view is from my balcony in the morning

Mummy, this is why I stay up late every night :)

Dramatic 20,000th

Congratulations to Aston Villa's Marc Albrighton for scoring the 20,000th Barclays Premier League goal.
He scored in the 54th minute in the game against Arsenal earlier. Thanks to school boy, Ps game beginner level defending from Arsenal's Per Mertesacker.

As a reward , Aston Villa will be given $20 000 to be donated to their official charity
the Acorns children's hospice. Here's a little publicity as Charity to the child support group.

I was with Shammu and Siraj watching the United game, while counting down to it.

It was quite dramatic as the 19,999th goal was fittingly scored by a premier league legend, Sir Ryan Giggs, who incidentally becomes the only player in Premier League history to score in 20 successive seasons.
Congratulations Sir Ryan!

As the count stopped there, the 6 games which kicked off late reached half time, leaving the chance to score the historic landmark to players playing in  the other three games that started earlier.

We were watching City's game against Stoke when Aguero scored in the 54th minute as well and were shellshocked coz we thought that was the 20,00th.

We started cursing, desperation started to kick in.We badly didnt want that assholic argentinian midget to be the one scoring it and crossing fingers, hoping someone else in the other 2 games has beaten Aguero to it.

Hopes were answered, God does exist. Albrighton had scored just seconds earlier. Dramatic.

Glad it was anyone but a City player.Haha!

What a night it has been,United winning five and me winning my betss!

football, don't we just love you? <3

Theridion grallator (The Happy Face Spider)

This is a picture of the back of a special Hawaiian spider, who has a smiley on its back.

This 5 milli-metre spidey has the distinctive marking of a smiley on its abdomen to discourage birds and other animals from eating it.

It is only found in the Hawaiian islands of  Oahu, Molokai, and Maui and the natives haved named it nananana makakiÊ»i

Sounds like a happy song for me....na nana na ma kaki 'ii....... :-)

20 000th Barclays Premier League Goal!

It's going to be an exciting moment in this week's midweek game, as the Barclays Premier League is looking forward for its 20,000th goal.

Yeapp...the current total stands at 19, 982goals...17 more goals to go and the 18th would be historic.
Bookmakers are taking in bets on who would score on that day.

The player that scores the 20,000th goal would receive a cheque worth $20,000 to be donated to any charity of their choice.Football isn't just beautiful, its's also has a beautiful generous side of it.
Brian Deane scored the first ever Premier League goal back in 1992 for Sheffield United

Anyways, if I were to bet on any player to score the 20,000th goal of the Barclays Premier League era, Il nominate the following five:

1.Royston Drenthe (Everton)
2.Gervinho (Arsenal)
3.Clint Dempsey(Fulham)
4.Nani (Manchester United)
5.David Silva( Manchester City)

If I Could Change One Thing To Fix the World

If I could change one thing to fix the world, I would wish that we all looked the same.

What a wonderful world it would be if we didn't have faces and if we all were of the same size.
  • Guys with flat face, only slot for eyes, nose and mouth.Hair short.Bigger size.
  • Girls with flat face,sharp chin,small nose and mouth.Long hair.Smaller size.

This way, beauty would only mean one thing, and that is inner beauty.

There wont be shortcuts, everybody would need to work hard.

There wont be favouritism towards the better looking, and discrimination towards the less looking.

Fairness would only mean one thing, and that is justice, nothing else.

There would be dedication to do good deeds to be seen as beautiful.

There would be fear to avoid bad deeds to avoid being seen as ugly.

Love wouldn't be blind anymore. Love will be fair.

Racism wouldn't exist anymore.

 People wont be divided.

 Innocents wouldnt be killed.

It would be a world without strangers. We are all would be one

So come to think about it,
I would change that to fix the world.

10 Things That Only Happens In Hindi Movies

Okay, lets face it...up to a point, our laid back enjoying side of our brains can give excuses to the logical control center that hindi movies are made such for fun and entertainment.

However, when the shit crosses into a high bullshit zone, ohh I forgot cows n bulls are sacred.

Anyways, such are the high level of  in some movies that certain almost magical things which we could never possibly imagine in our life's takes place....here's a list of

10 Things That Only Happens In Hindi Movies

10.If the hero gets into a fight with a group of thugs, they would all hover around the hero waiting patiently for their comrade to finish their fight before participating.

9.If any part of the actor's clothing is to tear, it tears accordingly, and muscular heroes seem to wear the lowest quality shirts, where it can tear at one pull.

8.White people seem to understand hindi. All of them, suspiciously.

7.The wind never blows in the opposite direction of the heroine's hair and when it does,it would make her look much hotter and oh yeah, did I mention the exact moment when the hero looks at her?

6.Anybody can sing, and when they do,amazingly, they all sound like  playback singers.

5.There is background sound while they talk.Trumpets, drums, flute you name it :)

4.Cars never need fuel.Have you seen a scene of anyone filling petrol in their cars in a hindi movie? Exactly.

3.Any sad heartbreaking news is immediately followed by the sound of a thunder, rain only pours if the person involved in the sad situation is about to walk on the street without an umbrella.

2.When they randomly start to dance on the streets, everybody on the streets seem to join in...and they even know the steps.

1.Last and the most puzzling, when there is a someone lying injured and about to die, nobody remembers to call 911, everyone seems to be able to accept fate and quietly gathers around to hear some final words.Which usually ends just in time before he or she dies.Amazing precision.

Did you know?

That the potato chips were made by accident.

The year was 1853, and a prideful chef by the name of George Crum was criticized for making French fries that are "too thick and soggy".

In an act of revenge, he purposefully cut the potatoes as thin as possible and added more salt.

Instead of feeling disgusted, the customers of his restaurant loved it very much.It became an instant hit."The Saratoga Chips" were born.

It remained a local delicacy untill a bussinessman by the name of Henry Lay popularized the chips.

Moral of the story: Being revengeful only helps if you are an extremely good chef...hahaha :)

Fact

YOU CAN STOP YAWNING BY TOUCHING YOUR TONGUE.

BY NOW, 8 OUT OF 10 PEOPLE WHO READ THAT WOULD HAVE TRIED YAWNING.

OUT OF THOSE 8, 6  WOULD HAVE SUCCESSFULLY YAWNED.

5 WOULD HAVE FOUND THE FACT TRUE.

WHILE THAT 1 SAD SOUL JUST REALIZED THAT HE MIGHT BE AN ALIEN :-S

HAHAHA....JUST FOR LAUGHS......THE FACT IS TRUE

People not Religion

What I think of Facebooks new gimmick-Timeline

Facebook is a scared little girl.

And she is scared of the boogey man called evolution, where the online social site will run out of steam and audience will dissapear to newer better sites.

She doesnt want to end up like her elder cousin sister, Friendster who was popular in school, right till she fell from the school stairs face first cause she couldnt update herself soon enough.

She wants to be different, she wants to show she is growing with us.

Hence, it came out with a stupid idea called Facebook Timeline.

If I could summarize this stupidity best, I would say its the best way for a total perfect stranger to get to know every single fucking details about you, right from when were you born (which incidentally is one of the major source of scams of credit cards online where our date of births are used), what you did as a kid, where you had lunch in 1992,and even a fucking google map GPS of where you last pooped!

Seriously facebook, do I look like I want the world to know where I am, all the time?

What happens when I want to skip work  and go to the movies instead, wont you blow up my cover?

And what if its young girls we are talking here, its a matter of privacy and safety.

but then again, Facebook is not only a scared little girl, she is a bitch too.

Does she care?

No, she doesnt.

Why not?

Coz, what has her popularity got anything to do with dumasses lossing their personal information or getting rape/murdered/butchered/toasted/fried/ducttaped kidnapped?

Facebook timeline is just a gimmick, to keep the site fresh, nothing else.It wants to keep up with other rapid increasing sites like Tumblr and Twitter, which has a rather more funkier outlook. The cons in it is farrr to much compared to what we get in return.

Heck, to come to think about it, what do I get back in return?

Why am I still in Facebook in the first place?

Joke of the day :)

Q: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
A: No.

Q: Did you check for blood pressure?
A: No.

Q: Did you check for breathing?
A: No.

Q: So then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
A: No.

Q: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
A: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.

Q: But could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?
A: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere.

Trolled :)

Last of his kind

This is Lonesome George

He is the last known individual of his species
(helonoidis nigra abingdoni or better known as the Pinta Island tortoise)

He is the last known Pinta Island Tortoise.

He has been labelled the rarest creature in the world.

George is estimated to be around 100 years old and is in good health.

However,

unless a female tortoise of the same Pinta Island Tortoise is found,

Lonesome George will die alone,

marking an end to his entire species.

Now thats sad....
